The Full Process
You Send Us Photos
Take a few photos of your dock, swimming area, or shoreline and send them to us by text, email, or through our estimate form. Photos of the weed density, water depth, and affected areas help us understand the scope of work and provide an accurate estimate — often without needing an on-site visit first.
The more photos the better. Shots from the dock looking out, from the shoreline looking in, and from the water if possible give us the clearest picture.
We Review and Provide an Estimate
We review your photos and get back to you with an estimate. For larger or more complex jobs, we may schedule a quick on-site walkthrough before finalizing the scope. Once you approve the estimate, we schedule your service.
We'll ask about your preferred timing, disposal preferences, and any access considerations before scheduling.
Crew Arrives on Service Day
Our crew arrives with all necessary tools and equipment. We'll do a brief walkthrough with you to confirm the areas to be cleared, any specific concerns, and disposal preferences. Then we get to work.
You don't need to be present for the entire job — just available at the start for a quick walkthrough and at the end for a final check.
Manual Removal Begins
The crew enters the water and begins manually removing aquatic vegetation using specialized aquatic rakes, cutters, and hand tools. We work systematically through the cleared area, pulling rooted growth where possible to reduce regrowth. No chemicals are applied at any point.
We work in the water, not from the shore. This lets us reach rooted growth and clear the area more thoroughly than shore-based tools allow.
Vegetation Is Collected and Disposed
As weeds are removed, they're collected and moved out of the water. Standard disposal is placement in an approved upland area on your property — typically a lawn or garden area where the vegetation can decompose naturally. Haul-away service is available at additional cost if you prefer the vegetation removed from your property entirely.
Aquatic vegetation makes excellent compost. Many customers ask us to leave it in a garden bed or compost area.
Final Walkthrough and Sign-Off
Once the work is complete, we walk the cleared area with you to confirm the results meet your expectations. We'll also discuss any areas that may benefit from a follow-up visit or seasonal maintenance schedule to manage regrowth.

Aquatic Rakes
Long-handled rakes with wide, tined heads designed to grab and pull aquatic vegetation from the water. The primary tool for most jobs.
Weed Cutters
Serrated cutting tools used to sever rooted vegetation at or near the base, making it easier to rake out and reducing regrowth.
Hand Tools
For tight spaces around dock pilings, boat lifts, and shoreline edges where larger tools can't reach effectively.
Collection Equipment
Tarps, bins, and hauling equipment to collect and transport removed vegetation from the water to the disposal area.

Vegetation Disposal Options
Leave On-Site (Standard)
Removed vegetation is placed in an approved upland area on your property — a lawn edge, garden bed, or compost area. This is the standard option and is included in the base service price. Aquatic vegetation decomposes quickly and makes excellent natural compost.
Haul Away
If you prefer the vegetation removed from your property entirely, we offer haul-away service at an additional cost. We load the removed vegetation and transport it off-site for proper disposal.
Certain aquatic vegetation removal or disposal may be subject to local, township, or state requirements. We are familiar with common Oakland County regulations and will advise if any apply to your job.

Do you use any chemicals or herbicides?
Never. Every job is performed manually using hand tools only. We do not apply any chemical herbicides, aquatic treatments, or other substances to the water or vegetation.
How long does a typical job take?
It depends on the size of the area and weed density. A standard dock and swimming area clearing typically takes 2–4 hours. Larger shoreline jobs may take a full day or require multiple visits.
Will the weeds grow back?
Yes — aquatic weeds are persistent. Manual removal significantly reduces growth and removes the bulk of vegetation, but regrowth is normal over the season. That's why many customers opt for a seasonal maintenance schedule with recurring visits.
Do I need any permits?
In most cases, no permit is required for manual hand removal of aquatic vegetation on your own property. However, some lakes, townships, or homeowner associations have specific rules. We'll let you know if anything applies to your situation.
